Carla Werner Southern Sun Live Acoustic

Recorded in my home studio during lockdown in New Zealand in April 2020. I have always meant to record an acoustic version of this song. It s so ethereal when it is just guitar and vocal. Something haunting about it. I remember being given the music which was written by Jamie Muholbrac, Carmen Rizzo, Emerson Swinford Paul Oakenfold while I was in Hollywood working with Carmen on my first solo album Departure. It took 45 minutes to write the lyrics and lock in the melody. At the time I was listening to a lot of Bjork s Homogenic and Radiohead s Ok Computer, two of my all time favorite albums (perhaps because of the minors). I rode around to Carmen s studio on my bike, and went right into the studio and recorded the vocal idea immediately after. Paul loved it including the scratch vocal, so we kept it, and Oakenfold added it to his artistbased album Bunkka which released through Maverick, Warner Music in Almost 20 years ago.
