Making a Primitive Hide Tanning Frame
In the woods making a primitive hide tanning frame. This frame was constructed with stone, bone tool technology and was really fun to make. The mortise work took the 8 hours. Because a deer leg bone is small and not very thick, it requires a slower and delicate tap so as to not shatter it. I managed to get one deer leg bone chisel to last the entire time, resharpening every 510 minutes. The larger the animal the better the bone chisel. A large animal can yield excellent quality chise
