Business Plan Should you focus on speed or perfection

I discussed the idea with one of my teachers and he agreed that there is a need for the idea. But he said I should let the idea mature and write it on paper sort out some details and then develop a prototype. What is your recommendation speed or perfection Should I jump on and start the prototype or figure out all nitty gritty around the idea
