The Unforgiven: Wagner, Jews, and Antisemitism
On April 28, 2021, the Yale Program for the Study of Antisemitism hosted a webinar with Alex Ross, the music critic of The New Yorker magazine entitled Unforgiven: Wagner, Jews, and Antisemitism. In a 30minute presentation, Ross discussed the debate over Wagners hatred of Jews, from the midnineteenth century to the present, as well as how Jews, blacks, and members of other minority groups have related to Wagners music. The talk was followed by a question and answer period, moderated by Maurice Samuels.
