Europa Clippers PIMS and EIS Instruments
In June 2022, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory delivered two key instruments and handful of other parts for NASA s Europa Clipper: the wideangle camera of the Europa Imaging System (EIS) and the Plasma Instrument for Magnetic Sounding (PIMS). These instruments, built for NASA s largest planetary space mission ever, will provide unprecedented views of Jupiter s icy moon Europa and aid in revealing new details about its subsurface ocean and whether it holds all of the ingredients necessary for life to take hold.
