Marcha del 26 de Julio March of the 26th of July Movement

On the first of January, 1959, the Cuban people, headed by the 26th of July Movement, victoriously overthrew the oppressive, Americanbacked government of Fulgencio Batista. This movement, driven by revolutionary leaders, most notably Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, played a pivotal role in shining the light of MarxismLeninism across the former Spanish colony by mobilising the lower classes into resistance against the Capitalist system. The group would eventually evolve into the Communist Party of Cuba, founded on the 3rd of October, 1956.
