The Slow Fox Trot (1931)

Full titles read: Now Pathetone presents The Slow Fox Trot Demonstrated by Santos Casani, the wellknown Teacher of London (probably Pathe Studio). M, S of dance teacher Santos Casani demonstrating the Slow Fox Trot with a lady in a black evening gown. A man plays the piano for them and several ladies in evening dresses sit around watching. C, U of the feet of Santos and his partner as they dance; Santos points out his partner is wearing a special short dress for filming. We see C, U of their feet from below as they dance over a glass floor (we can actually see right up the girl s long dress in this shot, but we are meant to be concentrating on the feet ). Then a double view shows the leg movements from ground level and the feet from below in a split screen.
