The 1980 s musically for me were about just so many things; but primarily they were about a group of female singers that I followed and enjoyed all their recordings however hard to find Natalie Cole, Nicolette Larson, Dionne Warwick, Melissa Manchester, Juice Newton, Donna Summer, Kim Carnes, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Sheena Easton, Chaka Khan and Laura Branigan all with a consistent output of albums were my most treasured during that decade. Olivia Newton John and Suzi Quatro were largely 70 s artists for me (although Olivia kept recording well into the new decade), and my favourite Aussie singers Renee Geyer and Marcia Hines had largely vanished by the middle of that decade only to have great comebacks in the next decades. Laura Branigan burst onto the world stage in a big way in 1982 with Gloria and spent the rest of the decade releasing hit albums and singles.
