Beethoven. Sonata 25 in G major ( Cuckoo), Op. 79 Valentina Lisitsa
It s a fun little sonata, full of selfdeprecating humor: remember that Beethoven was a German, of a humble background, from a relatively small town, living in urbane and sophisticated Vienna, brilliant centre of 19the century civilization. He was like a Texan in Boston. Deep deep The sonata is titled by the composer in Germanic style with all the charming stereotypes, including a real Black Forest cuckoo clock. The little slow middle movement, however, is a real gem of tenderness, and probably, homesickness, after Beethoven 32 Piano Sonatas.
