More women are joining, Mexicos cartels and criminal groups, according to the International Crisis Group. Women involved in criminal organizations make up 58 of the total number of recent recruitsaround 350560 people. Usually, it is women from poor backgrounds and broken families that join, gangs. Male crime bosses tend to value women for their perceived competence, respect for hierarchy and the fact they are less suspicious due to gender stereotypes. Mexico isn t the only central American country struggling with organised crime. ,Honduras suffers the same problem. Violent gang wars are rampaging here with different groups fighting over territory.
