This revealing and evocative dramadocumentary was commissioned from the young and highly regarded Russian film maker Andrei Nekrasov. He uses a cast of fine Russian actors, together with archive film clips and Prokofiev s own writings, to tell the story of the composer s life and career in Russia and the West. Filmed entirely in Russia in early 1991, the film incorporates performances of a wide range of the maestro s music.
