King Charles switches between fluent German and English as he delivers historic address
Watch the full speech of King Charles as the monarch switched between fluent German and English in a historic address. King Charles III made history on Thursday 30 March, becoming the first British monarch to address the Bundestag, Germanys federal parliament. The monarch delivered the opening part of his speech in German before switching to English to share how important visits to the country were for his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. Charles then continued his address, switching between German and English multiple times, and received a standing ovation after he finished. His wife Camilla, Queen Consort, was watching on from the Bundestag floor.
