Young Benjamin Netanyahu Defends ONE State Solution
This video dates back to 1978. A 28 year old MIT grad Benjamin Netanyahu (he goes by the Name of Ben Nitay when he attends college in the US) debates that there should NOT be a Palestinian state created on the West Bank and Gaza. Netanyahu argues that such a state would have but one goal: to destroy the Jewish state of Israel. This position is in line with the party platform of Netanhayu s Likud party: Likud has espoused opposition to Palestinian statehood and support of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. However, it has also been the party which carried out the first peace agreements with Arab states. For instance, in 1979, Likud Prime Minister, Menachem Begin, signed the Camp David Accords with Egyptian President Anwar alSadat, which returned the Sinai Peninsula (occupied by Israel in the SixDay War of 1967) to Egypt in return for peace between the two countries.
