The Islamic fundamentalists have pursued the fleeing government forces as they retreated from the devastated capital Kabul seizing and hanging two aides of the country s Sovietera leader. The executions come a day after former president Najibullah and his brother were hanged in public in the centre of Kabul. A day after their execution, the bodies of former president Najibullah and his brother Shahpur Ahmedzai are still hanging by wire nooses outside the Presidential Palace for all to see. Najibullah s body was bloodied and riddled with bullet holes. Thousands converged outside the Presidential Palace to take a look at the man accused of being a Soviet puppet during the 1980s.
