Calcio storico fiorentino
Ogni anno a Firenze, per tre giorni, si gioca al calcio in costume. Il gioco del Calcio a livrea faceva parte del ciclo festivo del Carnevale; tale evento è documentato fin dal XVI secolo. Gioco e corteo attuali rievocano la partita del 1530 quando Firenze, seppure assediata, decise di giocare una partita tra due schiere cittadine: si sfidarono i Bianchi e i Verdi. Dopo un interruzione di circa due secoli, fu ripreso nel 1930. Le squadre sono quattro, per i rispettivi quartieri: i Verdi per il quartiere San Giovanni, i Bianchi per Santo Spirito, i Rossi per Santa Maria Novella e gli Azzurri per Santa Croce. Le formazioni sono composte da giovani appartenenti alle varie fasce sociali. I calcianti effettuano gesti che ritroviamo nel calcio, nella palla a mano, nel football; gli scontri che avvengono durante la partita rimandano ad altri giochi come la lotta o le arti marziali.
