Lani Hall and Herb Alpert Come What May
I ll have to admit that I had never heard of Lani Hall before I heard her sing another song, I Don t Want You To Go on the radio back in 1980. I immediately went out and bought a copy of the 45rpm record. The following year, this song, Come What May, was released, and I liked it enough to buy the album Blush, which featured both songs. Lani Hall was a member of Sérgio Mendes group Brasil 66 who recorded such songs as Fool On The Hill and The Look of The band toured alongside A M labelmates (and label founder) Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass in 1966. Lani Hall eventually left Brasil 66 in 1971 and married Alpert in 1974. With her husband assuming production and arranging duties, Hall embarked on a solo career releasing an album nearly every other year from 1972 until 1987.
