A brief history of the Crossword
Almost 107 years ago, in December 1913, Britishborn Arthur Wynne introduced to the world, what we call today, the crossword. It was the eve of World War I and Wynne, the editor of New York World s Sunday color supplement FUN, had to fill a spare space in the paper. It was published on December 21, 1913, titled FUNs WordCross It was considered a wellsuited distraction in a time of war. A few weeks later the name WordCross was accidentally changed to Crossword. With no objection from Wynne
