The Soul Sisters is the name of an American vocal duo consisting of Tresia Cleveland and Ann Gissendanner. Originally, Cleveland and Gissendanner formed the band The Canjoes with Lou Johnson. Without the New York musician, they renamed themselves The Soul Sisters, but continued to work for the Sue Records Inc. label. 1964 saw the release of I Can t Stand It, the first and only album by the two singers. The eponymous single, written by Maurice McAlister, entered the Billboard Hot 100 in February of that year, where the song stayed for 9 weeks and reached, 46. It was followed in June 1964 by Good Time Tonight, a minor hit from the same album, which was listed for only one week and climbed to, 98. The single Just a Moment Ago became the last chart success of the two musicians in October of the same year and stood at number 100 for one week. Rumor has it that Cleveland and Gissendanner also released the single Just How Much (Can One Heart Take), Who s That Guy in 1964 under the band name The Kolettes. In 1968
