Capoeira Performance at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts
On July 22 the Cafesjian Center for the Arts was approached by the head of Capoeira School in Armenia Sergey Hakobyan with a request to permit a capoeira performance at the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden. Capoeira is a Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, sports, and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences, probably beginning in the 16th century. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power kicks and quick leg The performance at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts was given by capoeira practitioners from Yerevan and Moscow and constituted a colorful show that attracted several dozens of visitors.
