Backpacks and Handcarts: How did medieval people carry goods on foot
In this video I show you some of the ways I like to carry my gear on foot when reenacting, compared to how it would have been handled then. Of course, carrying gear in the Middle Ages was a bit of an odd situation. Either you carried almost nothing because you knew you could get what you needed at your destination, or you carried an entire baggage train full of food and equipment. I ve opted to show you both options here, and how our reenactment company has tackled it. Of course, not having horses is a severe bottleneck Our reenactment company, the BlackandGold Lance, is planning on an overland medieval backpacking trip, with armor and weapons later this summer, which is why I made this handcart and these packs. I will make a detailed video about our trip when it happens, and I m super excited to share it with you Music used: Stella Splendens in Monte (Llibre Vermell de Montserrat) Kings of Tara by Kevin MacLeod Licensed under Creative
