Pierre Bastien live London 2005 clip 2

Pierre Bastien at an interstitial moment. In this clip he changes a cylinder that revolves over a keyboard. The cylinder has pushpins stuck into it. . These pins push down keys on the keyboard as they rotate over it. Pierre does have set songs that begin and end, but surprisingly, he also approaches live playing like a dj does, mixing live and trying to keep a flow between songs. These changes weren t always fluid, and I think he would be very nervous during these parts in case something went wrong, or it took too long. But he seemed to want to show that something was always changing, and that there was some aspect of chaos control going on with these cute machines. If you payed attention to what he was doing, it felt very live.
