Donald Trump has described how a bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life as he made his first public speech since he faced an assassination attempt last weekend. Speaking on the final night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Trump gave a lengthy speech outlining his plans for a second term in the White House, including a promise to bring Americans together. The former president used his 90minute keynote speech to address the attempt on his life, when Thomas Crooks, a 20yearold with an unknown motive, opened fire on him with an AR15 rifle at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. He said the assassins bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life, but that he would only tell the story of the attack once.
