This is a very old russian folk song. Valeriy Yarushin (my dad, and a lead singer and a bass player of famous russian folkrock band Ariel that was very popular in 70s and is still now) created this arrangement all by himself, and then Ariel performing this song won a major competition in Moscow and got famous.
