Renault 21 Turbo 4x4 Superproduction Race Car in action at Goodwood Festival of Speed

A couple of months ago I shared with you a video about a R21 Europa Car, a machine built by Renault in order to be race in their own onemake series: the Europa Cup. Now I m sharing with you a brief video about the ultimate Renault 21 ever built: the Superproduction, SuperTourisme. The project was launched in late 1987 and its race debut was in March 1988. The car was based on the streetlegal 4WD Renault 21 (called Quadra ) but all its technical characteristics were new. The Superproduction saw an allnew 2. 0litre turbocharged 4cylinders engine producing 430 hp that could reach up to 290 km, h. Other innovations included a blowoff valve derived from F1 and a 2. 35mlong carbon fibre driveshaft taken from the Espace Quadra and wind tunnel tests resulted in highly effective solutions for the car s aerodynamics.
