Identif EYE: robot labelling for logistics automation in the e commerce retail sector

The need to respond to demand and changing market trends is imperative in the logistics sector, especially in ecommerce retail. Fast and errorfree parcel processing, regardless of orientation, size or shape was becoming a challenge for Asendia Heathrowbased crossborder delivery service for international ecommerce and mail as volumes of items through their processing facility steadily increased. To ensure that they could continue to provide customers with their usual high level of service, Asendia turned to KUKA UK platinum system partner Loop Technology, to deliver an automated labelling and scanning solution, that would reduce parcel handling by twothirds. IdentifEYE, Loops dynamic labelling system with 3D vision, has since been integrated into Asendias operations. Three KUKA KR AGILUS robots label more than 7, 000 packages per hour.
