The Making of China: the Civilizations of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties displays 217 sets, pieces of magnificent objects found in around 89 archaeological sites, among which 67 sets, pieces are firstgrade national treasures. It follows the timeline of the Xia (21001600 BCE), Shang (16001046 BCE), and Zhou (1046221 BCE) dynasties, showcasing some of the wellknown archaeological findings including Ding (food vessel) with the Grid Pattern (the earliest Ding found so far), Turquoiseinlaid Plaque with the Animalmask Pattern, Kneelingfigureshaped Jade Pendant, Owlshaped Zun (wine vessel) with the Inscription Fu Hao (a female general and wife of the King Wuding). This is the first of the series The Essence of China which includes exhibitions of cultural relics and archaeological achievements.
