Jefferson Airplane founding member Paul Kantner died in San Francisco, CA at age 74 on January 28, 2016. Lifetime Achievement Award was announced to the San Francisco psychedelic rock group prior to Kantner s death and awarded at Staples Center award ceremony, Los Angeles on February 15, 2015. Update: Marty Balin is dead on September 27, 2018. The Jefferson Airplane singer and cofounder died at age 76 with his wife, Susan Joy Balin, by his side.
