This block is called Blockade and uses the flying geese with connecting corners techniques and half square triangles. The Sunset Over Dublin book provides great instructions to help make the block along with pressing solutions to help keep the block as flat as possible. Nancy uses Diagonal Seam Tape (Cluck, Cluck, Sew). She lines the tape up on her sewing machine. The tape is easy to use and saves time so there is no need to draw diagonal lines on each square. Nancy takes the squares and sews on the diagonal to make half square triangles. She then takes a rectangle and a square and sews on the diagonal from corner to corner on one side.
