Elstree, Herefordshire. L, S of the typical English countryside. Camera pans to show the rooftops of a Chinese city. Several M, S of the inside of the city: muddy grey roads, poor crumbling houses, typical Chinese architecture, authentic craftsmen shops, market with authentic Chinese vegetables, dried fish, This is an ancient city of Wangcheng reproduced in Elstree s MGM studio as a set for the film Inn of the Sixth Happiness. M, S of four people (among them Freddie Young, the cameraman) carrying a camera across the set to find the correct position for shooting of the execution scene.
