Why MLK Holiday Pisses Off Black Men
Each year the Martin Luther King jr holiday celebrations in the United States feature paeans from leaders who tend to sanitize the civil rights leaders beliefs, glossing over his strident anticapitalist, prounion, antiwar positions. As the Revolutionary Blackout Networks Nick Cruse notes, some of the worst offenders are the modernday AfricanAmerican leaders like Barack Obama, Hakeem Jeffries and Jim Clyburn who will wrap themselves and their neoliberal policies in the MLK mantle even though he himself would have never supported anything of the kind.
