First passage of the new winter season: Maryland to Florida, USA. After 6 weeks boat preparation and stocking up in Herrington Harbour North Marina, we are finally on our way south just as winter seems to be starting. Tricky exit through the marina channel shoals and our journey starts with a wonderful sail to christen the new season, blasting our way down the Chesapeake at 9kts, with a strong following wind. After a night in Deltaville the weather has calmed and we motor all the way to Cape Hatteras, rounding its notorious shoals in a complete calm. The calm continues through the night, but we do manage to sail again coming into the quaint town of Beaufort, North Carolina. Here we celebrate Thanksgiving with the local OCC port officer, Diane. From Beaufort we take another overnight passage to Charleston where we are weather bound for several days and continue some jobs on the boat, most notably wiringin the new remotecontrol system for furling the sails.
