Cat Artist (1961)
C, Us of an abstract drawing; some areas are painted in with a watercolour wash; at the top of the page is written Topsy 3161. M, S of Dr George Cooper, holding a palette and painting a country scene at an easel in his home in Hertford. Dr Cooper looks down and we see a beautiful black cat drawing with a crayon on a piece of paper pinned to a drawing board The crayon is dangled from the ceiling by a long piece of string. We are told the cat is called Topsy, and has drawn six drawings to date. She looks up at Dr Cooper; she is gorgeous Dr Cooper kneels down, picks up the crayon and holds it before Topsy s nose. He places it back on the paper: and Topsy pats it and takes it in her mouth to draw on the paper. Commentator tells us hasn t yet mastered the use of paints, so she merely sketches and Dr Cooper adds a dash of colour. Dr Cooper puts some paint brushes before Topsy and she sniffs them.
