Almaty scythian burial mounds
Almaty is a unique city with a thousandyear history. It is the center of political, cultural and religious life of the nomadic people. The remains of worship places near the city are the evidence for that. The necropolis is located on the southeastern outskirts of the village Boraldai, on the left bank of the Big Almaty River. It is a burial mound. The monument has preserved its cultural and natural landscape. The length of the cemetery is 3 km, the width is 800 m. The cemetery features the main mounds with a diameter of 80150 m and a height of 1014 meters; all those features stand for the fact that this is as a dynastic necropolis of the royal burial complex, dating back to the era of the early Iron Age. The territory of the mounds has a total area of 430 hectares and became an archaeological site called Boroldai Saka mounds on March 28, 2006 with the purpose of conducting research works and preservation of the monument of historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
