Nightcrawler, Cinemas Most Chilling Character
How do you depict a psychopathic character in a film Is it just about the acting, or is there more to it that is actually cinematic In fact, what even is a psychopath Is that a real thing (hint in terms of diagnosis, no it s not. ) Louis Bloom from Dan Gilroy s Nightcrawler (2014) is one of my favourite films when it comes to effectively portraying a bonechilling psychopathic (or sociopathic if you want to be precise) character using not just the actor s ability, but various cinematic tricks, including camera work, score, and the script itself. Considering how this video was meant to be an allinone video at first, discussing Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men as well as Homelander from the popular series The Boys, you can see how special Nightcrawler s Lou was that it ended up becoming its own video. Now, a disclaimer I DO go over the term, psychopath, and how unfitting it may be to describe the character in my video, so please do not
