Lpool Cathedral Aka Cathedrals Of Liverpool (1940)
Cathedrals of Liverpool. Merseyside (formerly Lancashire). Various shots of men at work on the foundations and Lutyens crypt of the Metropolitan Roman Catholic Cathedral. The men carve, sand and polish slabs of Cornish granite into shape. A carved cross is moved into place and the rolling stone gate to the relics chapel is demonstrated. A man winds another large piece into its place. C, U s of model of the Cathedral as it would have been when completed to the original Lutyens design. Various shots of workmen carving the sandstone slabs for the Anglican Cathedral which is also under construction. They place them into position and work on building the roof. The Cathedral has been under construction since 1904. Various shots as they chip at the stone and lift the blocks up. A man carves a delicate tracery.
