Deaf Children (1953)
Margate, Kent. At the Royal School for Deaf and Dumb Children we see various shots of teacher Miss Massey encouraging young children in a classroom to use their vocal chords. She gets the children to do exercises like blowing on bits of paper and on their hands to get used to the sensation. Another teacher, Miss Taylor, sits at a table with two small children and gets them to look at pictures of objects, say the name of it and match it to the real thing. Miss Massey is seen again with a group of children. She gets a small girl to copy her in saying a word onto a balloon so she can feel the vibration. Note: this item has commentary by a woman. Old database records list the names of children seen in this film as Janet Pingree, Reggie Jones, Linda Fincham, Laura Clay, June Saxton, Brian Wiggins and Janet Graham. Notes on file.
