43. How Muscles Work
This lecture begins by describing the primary importance to homeostasis of an organisms ability to move itself. It examines the anatomy of musclesmovement effectorsfrom the whole organ level to the molecular level, and then describes the molecular basis for how muscle cells change their shape and in so doing enable animals to move. The lecture concludes by examining the control of muscle contraction, from the initial stimulus of a neuron to the movement of whole sections of tissue.
