Cameos From Betty In Mayfair (1925)
Extracts from the musical stage play Betty in Mayfair at the Adelphi Theatre. Evelyn Laye and Mary Leigh play Betty and Kitty. We see the two perform a dance inside a framing device of a picture frame. Again within a frame, some gentlemen arrive to pay their attentions to the ladies. They seem to be in Victorian dress. Some ladies parade holding their skirts. L, S of the stage, everyone curtseys when a very elegant woman comes through the door. The great moment when Betty decides to throw off the mask (meaning the crinoline ) and be her natural L, S of Betty pulling off the crinoline. The chorus girls do likewise.
