Hans Castorp arrives at The Magic Mountain ( In the Swiss Alps)

A brief extract from the beginning of Thomas Mann s novel The Magic Mountain. Here we see Hans Castorp travelling by train (in 1907) from Hamburg to a sanatorium in the Swiss Alps, where he intends to visit his cousin for 3 weeks. (Narrated by British actor John Shrapnel who actually uses the word Phantasmagorical in the narration.
