Jolly Miller of Dee
The last miller at Upminster Windmill (1934) was Alfred Abraham, a very affable man. His daughter, Emily, once captioned a picture of her father as, The Jolly Miller. Prompted by Emily s remark, a friend of the windmill s supporters, Richard Spencer, an accomplished pianist, organist, and composer, was asked to compose an arrangement of this tradition folk melody that the windmill preservation society could use in presentations. The result of Richard s work are these delightful variations on the melody. S
