LADY OF THE EVENING Irving Berlin Peter Yorke and his Concert Orchestra
Lady Of The Evening was composed by Irving Berlin in 1922. He wrote both the music and the lyrics. When one thinks of Irving Berlin this song is not one that immediately springs to mind. There is very little about it on line. The chorus Evening Lady of the evening I can hear you calling me Calling While the shades are falling Falling over land and sea You can make the cares and troubles that Followed me through the day Fold their tents just like the Arabs and Silently steal away Evening Lady of the evening I hear you calling me. The song has an engaging melody nicely arranged by Peter Yorke (19021966). The Decca LP is titled The Music Of Irving Berlin, issued in 1950 (DL 5269). It is another of the tracks remastered by Alan Bunting for David Ades Guild series The Golden Age Of Light Music. It appears on Musical Kaleidoscope (GLCD 5154) issued in 2009.
