3 Cinematic Ways to Shoot Contrast in Music Videos
Visual interest can mean a lot of things color contrast, volumetric lighting, practical lighting, colormixing, etc. and as a cinematographer, nothing allows you to play with more fun visual and creative elements all at once than the music video. Today, DP, Host Kevin Reyes walks through the visual interest that make sense for the story we re trying to tell with our video. We want to utilize color contrast to get the warm and cool look to highlight the juxtaposition of a warm inviting atmosphere inside an abandoned warehouse, which involves playing up the color of the moonlight. Not only that, but we re introducing haze with the intention of seeing hard beams. And finally, we re mixing in some production design that contrasts with the setting we re in which inherently gives us visual interest with the color palette of the piece.
