An Australian Town Was Clogged Up By A Hairy Panic

In February of 2016, a small rural town in Australia was overtaken by a fastgrowing tumbleweed. This mess was appropriately nicknamed the hairy The residents of Wangaratta, a town in the northeast region of Victoria, were forced to clear out the weeds sometimes several times per day. The hairy panic goes by the Latin name Panicum effusum; this grass is found in every Australian state. The weeds are not particularly dangerous and do not pose a fire threat, and thus authorities are not obligated to help clear out the mess.
