The Orchestra is THE COCKAIGNE OVERTURE (ELGAR) In this wellknown overture, SIR EDWARD ELGAR has portrayed in music the life of the great Metropolis, with all its varied shades and The Queen s Hall, London. Various shots of the Finnish National Orchestra conducted by Georg Schneevoight playing the stirring Cockaigne Overture. Probably a rehearsal although could be actual performance (musicians are all in white tie and tails). Nice shots are intercut showing street scenes and sights of London River Thames with St Paul s Cathedral in background, people walking across a bridge, piling into a market square with barrows, wandering along the river bank, St James s Palace and surrounding area, Tower of London, St Paul s, Houses of Parliament, Westminster, Cenotaph and so on.
