Fragmented World: Egypt Joins BRICS+ De Dollarization
Egypt has now also joined the BRICS plus alliance in an effort to decouple itself from the US Dollar. It looks like more and more countries take the dedollarization movement serious. Recently there have been a couple of similar moves by Iran, Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. As part of the alliance, Egypt has joined the New Development Bank of BRICS, which is working to reduce the dominance of the US dollar in the global economy. The goal of this dedollarization campaign is to reduce the impact of US policies and sanctions on other countries economies. The US dollar has long been the dominant currency in the world, used for international trade and as a reserve currency by many countries. This gives the US significant economic power and influence over other countries.
