Eltons 1979 tour was radically different in many ways from his previous: no fancy costumes, no eyeglasses, no band (save percussionist, Ray Cooper) just the words and music front and center. Elton also visited locations where no rock act of his prominence had trodden before, such as the Elton brought his classic songs to the country for 8 shows over 8 nights, including Daniel, for which he and Bernie Taupin won the 1973 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
