Li was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy as a child, a rare disease that slowly took away his ability to move. Today, he can move just one finger and one toe, but thats all he needs to run a smart farm through an app he built himself. Lying in a container home next to the greenhouses, Li directs his 62yearold mother, Wu Dimei, by phone. In the 40C heat, Li Xia redesigned the greenhouse cooling system as his mom did the wiring and pipes.
