Montana Wheat Harvest 2021 In today s video, I take you in my John Deere combine to harvest our Montana winter wheat, 2021. My Dad is training the grain cart driver today. I am the only combine in the field until Uncle Chris starts up the other combine. We talk on the radio to communicate. We are finetuning our equipment and making sure everything is operating properly and safely. We planted this winter wheat last fall. This type of wheat has to freeze in order to produce an optimal head full of grain. Now with the drought, we are realizing that the wheat looks good in the field but there is little grain in the heads. We did not get hailed out this year, but the heat and lack of moisture have taken their toll. My Dad said we have had some really great years of harvest and we must expect to have a few poor years.
