Full title reads: Tugs hail in vain at stranded windjammer. Off Devon coast. Windjammer (tall ship with 3 masts), the Herzogin Cecilie, has been grounded on rocks for 2 months. Her owners decide to try to salvage her using tugboats. Various shots of salvage attempts, a group of fishermen sit on rocks watching. M, S of sea water washing over deck of vessel. On board crew of windjammer play their part in salvaging ship. Work is led by ship s skipper s (Captain Ericson) wife. Various shots of barefooted woman (Mrs Ericson) clambering about deck, climbing rigging and tying ropes. C, U of Mrs. E. L, S of windjammer the rescue attempt has been unsuccessful.
