fencing in leather soled shoes
Here i m fencing in some leathersoled dress shoes to test the effect of leathersoled period shoes (yes, I know this isn t a perfectly valid test, and I would actually like to try this in accurately handstitched German reproduction shoes from 1570, and I m sure someone will tell me that those shoes would make a HUGE P ). My conclusion: when using proper footwork, the biggest factor is the floor surface, not the shoe I was able to use, for all intents purposes, the exact same type of footwork that I use with modern fencing shoes. They had less traction than a modern fencing shoe, but the difference was easy to adapt to. actually there is a very small, 1, 4 hardrubber strip on the back edge of the heel, mostly to prevent wear
